The practice of facial exercise has a long history but it’s often news to people that over 40 muscles make up the scaffolding of the face. And just like the muscles in the body, the more you move them, the more lifted, tightened and tone they become. Focusing on the health and strength of your facial muscles as part of your self care routine will pay dividends when it comes to the appearance of key focus areas like the jawline, forehead and eye area.

When is the best time to do this quick DIY routine?

Much like glute clenches while you’re waiting in line, or squats while you’re on the phone, any time you can fit facial exercises into your day is great. Try doing it morning or evening as part of your skincare routine, that way you get the added benefits of really working products into the skin too.

What’s the benefit of massaging in your product?

Again, when it comes to the body, it’s a well known fact that massaging or brushing product into the skin, rather than just slapping it on will maximise the benefits for your skin tone and texture. The same goes for your face! Using your hands to work the product into the skin is great, but you can also use a facial tool like a gold or jade roller to further encourage product absorption.
